If you are curious about what we are doing in the Czech Republic and how you can support us this page will hopefully help answer your questions.
Here’s what we are up to:
- Christian Associates International – Bethany is part of CAI’s church planting team here in Prague. The Czech Republic is one of the most atheistic countries in the world and it can be a very dark place spiritually. But, it is also a place of deep spiritual history and even deeper spiritual hunger. We desire to plant a church that can really reach this post-communist, post-Christian, post-modern Czech society exactly where they are. We desire to build up Czech leaders and create a healthy, growing and sustainable church in Prague, Czech Republic. - Artistic expressions of community – Bethany has gotten involved in creating a community of artists in Prague who desire to create art and also reach people with the truth of the Kingdom of God. She is currently working with 16 other artist (both Christian and non-Christian) to create an art exhibit for Advent that is centered on the theme of Light. The Czech people are very artistic and have a long history of artistic expression and she desires to bring the Light of God to the artistic community here in a way that is authentic, professional and filled with beauty.
- Christian expressions of yoga – Bethany is currently taking classes to get certified as a yoga instructor. These classes are a wonderful opportunity to expand her own practice and also meet new people. She has started teaching casual free yoga classes that are based on biblical truth and incorporate prayer and Scripture once a week for a group of women in the community. It has been a beautiful and meaningful time for all those who have participated and she hopes to see it grow and develop into an active ministry over the years to come. The Czech’s are very open to spirituality and especially eastern spirituality and this could be a great opportunity to show them the loving and authentic spirituality of Jesus.
- Building Community – We have a heart for building active and authentic community. We desire to create spaces and opportunities where people can connect with God and with each other. At different times over the two years that we have been in Prague this desire for building community has expressed itself in different ways. Sometimes it means having regular dinner parties with our core church community and supporting those who so often support and minister to others. Sometimes it looks like having English nights with students from a local high school. Sometimes it looks like inviting some people out for drinks after church. Sometimes it looks like helping plan events for Teen Challenge, an organization that works with local gypsy kids. And I’m sure it will look different in the future as well, but we desire to follow Jesus and listen as he calls us to connect with the people around us and connect more deeply with him.
There are a number of other things that we both do on a day to day basis. Bryan maintains a job working as a consultant for a number of different projects here in Prague and loves the people he gets to meet and the ways he gets to support people through the work he does. We are always open to where the spirit is moving us in this strange new land that we find ourselves in and we are trying to follow that lead as best we can on a daily basis.

- Pray for us!! Please! We believe that there is nothing more powerful then prayer and that God does hear and answer our prayers. So, please pray for us and for the work we are doing in the Czech Republic.

We are so grateful for all of the wonderful people God has brought into our lives and for the emotional, spiritual and physical support we have received from many throughout the years. We know that we are not alone in the world. We are members of the body of Christ and we have experienced the body of Christ taking care of its members. We are so grateful for that and we look forward to the people that God is going to raise up to support us in the future.
